The path to relaxation

Thank you to all our previous renters this season. You have been wonderful.

Perennial rock garden

This spring we created a rock garden and added some perennials. These include: cone flowers, daisies, black eyed Susans and various bulbs. Each year we’ll add to the garden. We also planted native dogwood and cranberry along the shoreline. The solar lights give just enough light to find your way back to the cottage after a session of star gazing from the boathouse rooftop deck.

There are four bedrooms at The Bayview Cottage. We’ve named them after the wood the beds are made from. Three bedrooms have double beds and the bunkroom sleeps four. The bedrooms are small but comfortable. All beds feature Ralph Lauren or Nautica duvets or comforters. Please keep in mind, the maximum number of occupants at the cottage is eight, including children.

This aerial perch is the best. When the sun is out, it’s hot, hot, hot – get to the shade! Cool down with a dip in the lake or a cold beveridge from the boathouse fridge.

Here are a couple of pictures of the front and backside of the cottage. To me, the frontside is the lakeside. Others disagree. The backside or driveway side is flat. Adjacent to the driveway is a large flat grass area. It’s perfect for a game of soccer, badminton, frisbee or volleyball. We have all the sports equipment for you to use. On the frontside or lakeside, the land slopes to the lake. This spring we put in granite flagstone and created a meandering path to the larger granite steps down to the lake.

Here’s how you get to Bayview Point Cottage in the winter and what you do once you get there – shovel! This video clip was taken as a series of time lapse stills over two days in February last year. It shows the remarkable Muskoka weather patterns that roll into the area on a given day. We had a great time playing pond hockey on Lake of Bays – even after shoveling the rink one too many times. I’m considering buying a snowblower. The cottage is ultra cosy in the winter with the woodstove blasting away with hardwood as fuel.
